After our recent treasure search at France’s famous twice yearly L’Isle sur le Sorgue extravaganza, we have been on the lookout for orange colored flyers announcing upcoming local village brocantes. Only a few Sunday’s are left in August for our very favorite brocante held in the Grimaud countryside. From our village to Grimaud village, it is a 45 minute drive. In the early morning we set our sights south and after passing through Grimaud, it is 10 minutes more and that includes finding a parking spot!

For the remainder of August and thru September, you should arrive before 9am to find decent parking. After our dusty treasure hunting in the rocky fields beside the vineyards, we pack up a few treasures and drive back up to Grimaud to find a luncheon bistro.

We stroll up the hill towards the Grimaud castle ruins and find 3 small bistros all in a row. The magic spot is a favorite because of an ancient shady olive tree and a beautiful water fountain. There are 2 seats left under the awning at Grimaud’s Creperie Le Boubou. The formula lunch is an omelette with salad and a special dessert- crepe sucre!

Washing it all down with a chilled rose in a glass pitcher, we linger over the proud bistro owner’s crepe sucre dessert. It is a very, very thin sweet pancake style dessert and we are glad we tried it!
